Mark Scicluna

Mark Scicluna is a designer and artist specialising in illustration within several fields including advertising, gaming and storytelling. Inspired by local culture, music and other art forms, Mark’s distinctive style varies from sketchy character designs to highly detailed graphics both in traditional and digital media.  Responsible for illustrations in over 20 published books, he won three Illustrator of the Year Awards at the Malta National Book Awards (2009, 2010 & 2014). Mark worked as a graphic design lecturer at MCAST College for The Creative Arts in Malta from 2010 – 2014. He is currently working as a freelance illustrator and as a weekly cartoonist for MaltaToday.  His most recent works include illustrating “A Space Boy Dream” web-comic, doing character and background design for various games, and he is in the process of self-publishing his first printed comic,
The League of Extraordinary Underpants,” which will be launched at this year’s Malta Comic Con.

Past Projects:

A Space Boy Dream is a web comic that follows twenty-three year old Vincent and his mundane life in the island of Malta,  as he struggles to make it big as a fine artist. The comic is a light hearted satire of the hipster culture, where the  artists poke fun at themselves and the people around them.The 60th and final episode of A Space Boy Dream was released  on Sunday the 26th of October, 2013 after the webcomic ran for a year and 2 months.
