Leonidas “Steve” Stivaktis

Steve has studied comic art, illustration, creative writing, and tattooing. He’s known for his self-published work, including comics Esmé, The Monsters in the Closet, and Jellinkfish. In 2021, his comic Spazorahoula (illustrated by Len Gogou), was published by Jemma Press and has won several awards since, including Best Script at the Greek Comic Awards. He has illustrated several other comics, children’s books, and tabletop role-playing games, and he’s known for his neotraditional-tattoo-style illustrations, queer fantasy themes, and character designs. In 2022, he made illustrations for an award-winning documentary on the queer history of Greece in the ‘80s and ‘90s, (AKOE – AMFI – To Sleep On His Chest). He’s happiest when he takes his work from convention to convention in Greece and Europe, which he has been doing since 2013. He’s currently working on a transgender coming of age comic due to be published in 2024, teaching teens how to make comics in Ornerakis School of Applied Arts in Athens, and studying Greek History and Culture. He lives in Athens with his dog, cockatiels, and rapidly multiplying houseplants.
