Geoff Johns’ Aquaman review by Raphael Borg

From the word “go”, Geoff Johns’ Aquaman clearly outlines who Arthur Curry is at heart; Aquaman is the one who does not belong. He does not belong to the surface world, he does not belong in Atlantis; he does not even belong in his own narrative, as the narrative reminds us this by flipping cliched tropes on their heads over and over again and throwing Aquaman in situation after situation in which he are completely unexpected – the most salient being a specific twist in his relationship with the villain Black Manta – and trust me, it is NOT what you’d expect. A completely worthwhile read. A shame his run was cut short.
