Born in Australia in 1985, Dean Fenech moved to Malta in 1994. He teaches Social Studies at a Maltese secondary school and also is a comic creator.
His first graphic novel, Apocalypse Rocked – Part 1 (Issues 1–2), was released in 2011. Set in a post-apocalyptic world ravaged by a virus, the story follows a group of rock star superheroes. The series continued with Issues 3 and 4 (2013–2014), later combined as Apocalypse Rocked – Part 2.
His second series, Times Are A-Changing, ran from 2015 to 2019. This five-issue series follows three Maltese characters and their descendants across five different periods in Maltese history: Prehistory, the Roman period, the Knights’ era, the Second World War, and a futuristic cyberpunk setting.
Since 2020, Dean has been writing L-Għalliema u l-Istudenti tal-Kulleġġ San Xi Ħadd, a comic strip about the shenanigans that take place in a school, published in Sagħtar magazine. The stories have since been collected into three separate volumes, which also include extra stories first published exclusively in those collections.
He also co-authored the textbook Studji Soċjali – Nifhmu l-Għan tas-Soċjetà and illustrated books such as Għetiebi Mikula, From the Vortex, To the Vortex, Avventuri fil-Mellieħa, and others.
