Another project entrusted to the capable hands of Ed Brubaker. This time his task is to retell the secret historical origins of the Marvel Universe. Although every fan has some basic knowledge of this tale, Brubaker”s noir style gives us a new aspect of military intrigue during World War II from the eyes of the crime fighter, the Angel (one of the early heroes of the 40s). With pencilling from Steve Epting, the actions and loose ends from this tragic period are sorted out. These actions are explained through the emotions brought by the war. The war”s effects eventually leads to the initial exploits of the superheroes” forging, up to the formation of the Invaders. This truly enjoyable tale is graced by great covers which brings nostalgia to a gone by era and my old Invaders collection. This made me hope that someone could update the Invaders” story.
