When I was young I actually read some of the old Dan Dare comics so I have some background and the feel of comics on this English character. This is appropriately handled by Garth Ennis and Gary Erskine. Garth Ennis does not try to modernize the main character of this comic, known as the pilot of the future, but takes him out of retirement and pits him again against his arch-enemy the Mekon as he strikes again. This collection is nostalgic for all those who grew up reading these kind of British comics and this is shown by the love that Mr. Ennis has for the character. It has been a long time since I saw some artwork by Scottish artist Gary Erskine and was really impressed by his evolving pencilling. This made me wonder, why we do not see more of his artwork regularly instead of only his inking. Go on read some new tales on a classic hero!
