Wicked Comics in collaboration with Faber-Castell, Science is Culture and the Young Cavaliers Club are proud to announce a competition specifically intended for children of 11 years of age or younger. The competition is titled “Create Your Own Superhero”.
Participants are required to draw and colour an original superhero stating its name and super power. All entries will be exhibited during the Malta Comic Con 2011 which will take place on Saturday 26th November and Sunday 27th November between 10am and 6pm at St. James Cavalier, Valletta. The judging panel will consists of a number of foreign professional creators exhibiting during the Malta Comic Con and the best three entries will be announced on Sunday at 3.30pm were prizes consisting of Faber-Castell drawing kits will also be handed out to the 3 winning entries.
Each participant is allowed one entry which should be submitted on an A4 paper containing the drawing of the superhero, its name and its super power and the name, address and telephone number of the creator. Each entry must also contain the name and signature of at least one legal guardian of the participant.
Closing Date is Monday 21st November. Entries can be submitted by post or delivered in an envelope to the reception staff at St. James Cavalier by hand during the opening hours. All envelopes must be addressed to Olivia Deguara or Amanda Palmier, Malta Comic Con 2011 competition.

Parents may also wish to note that during the Malta Comic Con 2011 there will be 2 children”s workshops delivered by foreign professional creators Tim Perkins and Kate Brown. These workshops will tale place at the Cinema Auditorium on Saturday and Sunday between 11am and 12pm (noon). Parents are also encouraged to attend teacher David Pace”s talk on The Importance of Graphic Novels! – Encouraging children to read occurring concurrently with Sunday”s Children”s workshop and the discussion panel titled Comics as an Educational Tool, moderated by Dr. Gorg Mallia and including speakers from abroad happening on Sunday between 2pm to 3pm.
A 1 day ticket costs 7 Euro and a 2 day ticket costs 12 Euro. Tickets can be obtained from the door or by visiting www.sjcav.org. Children under 11 years enter free.
