Blade Runner: Film Celebration

Euro Media Forum, in collaboration with the Faculty of ICT, present ‘The Blade Runner Film’ event at the auditorium, Faculty of ICT, University of Malta on Friday July 11th at 8 p.m.

Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner is hailed as one of the most visually influential science fiction films ever made. Adapted from Phillip K.Dick‘s novel ‘Do Android’s Dream of Electric Sheep?’ and originally panned by critics back in 1982, it has since become a cult film classic. Blade Runner is a fascinating detective story starring Harrison Ford as Rick Deckard a world weary ex-policeman turned android hunter and his renegade prey Roy Batty played by Rutger Hauer. It continues to attract a huge following and retains a unique place in cinema thanks to Vangelis‘ timeless synthesized score amid the shimmering visual effects and breathtaking futuristic sets.

Guest speaker Mike Rosner will lead the audience into a greater appreciation of how author Phillip K.Dick‘s novel themes of artificial intelligence, paranoia, and social decay envision a future ruled by robots and how Ridley Scott’s striking visual images probe profound questions about what it means to be human and the dangers of playing ‘God’.
The audience is invited to participate and put forward to the guest speaker their questions, curiosities and observations. To spice up the evening there will also be a Blade Runner film quiz, with the opportunity to win cinema tickets and a free pizza meal for two. So quiz participants must keep their eyes open for the clues!

This event is being held in collaboration with the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology – University of Malta, Eden Cinemas; Science is Culture and Giotto restaurant. Entrance is free including food and refreshments. Limited seating is available. For bookings please email euromediaforum@gmail.com or send an sms to 99454066, or log in Euro Media Forum
